Wallpaper of the Week – Week 4

Welcome to Euro Tech’s wallpaper of the week segment. If you don’t know already, I look at the better wallpapers released in the past week and judge accordingly on what is worthy of being on your device.

This week I am dedicating the wallpaper to gaming. You’re probably wondering how I have found a wallpaper that encompasses the whole genre of games, and it’s a tough thing to do. But I believe I have found a wallpaper that really flourishes and puts the beauty and art back into gaming. Let’s take a look.

Firewatch

Without going into too much detail about the game itself, Firewatch is a first-person adventure game for Windows, OS X and the PlayStation 4. The game allows you to take control of Henry, a volunteer fire lookout who is assigned to his own tower in Shoshone National Forest. The story combines fiction with non-fiction, as you’re exploring areas in the aftermatch of the Yellowstone fires in 1988, finding out what exactly happened during these events and unraveling the true nature of the incident while confronting obstacles along the way.

The artist who created this wallpaper managed to capture the game’s true colours and what it is all about in one image. Firewatch is an artistry masterpiece, with a wonderful colour palette and jaw-dropping texture designs. The main focus of this image is capturing the whole scene and focal point of the game itself. From the shadow of its former self forrest, to a lone man on the cliff edge peering into the distance as he sees the forrest he once loved become a wasteland.

What really grabs my attention when I was looking for a wallpaper to encapsulate the genre was the ingenius use of orange that really made me want to use this as this week’s featured wallpaper for Euro Tech. The gradient effects, as well as the smooth transitions to different shades of orange makes this wallpaper awe-inspiring.

While I have not played Firewatch myself, this wallpaper really does make you want to give it a try and see if this is the true nature of the game itself and its experience.

About Kurt Colbeck

Cynical, bitter, and speaks his mind. And those are my good points! I like to ramble and I love technology, so this is why I'm here.
