Google is finally pushing a feature to the Play Store which I actually expected a long time ago. It’s showing a “Show installed apps” toggle in the top apps section so you can hide apps you’ve already installed from the list.
There’s nothing more painful than scrolling through all the recommended apps seeing all the apps you’ve already installed on your device (not really true, but you know what I mean…) just to find a few apps you like and you haven’t installed before. Here’s the feature in action:
Availability of the toggle?
It’s a bummer though that the toggle is currently only showing up under the Play Store’s “Top” apps for those whom actually see the toggle, but not in the search results and other lists like Trending Now, New and Updated or You Might Like… It’s not clear if this is a permanent server-side switch, or an A/B test. It’s not yet showing up on our devices.
Do you like to see this new feature being tested by Google? And why do you think it took so long for Google to push this feature? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments!
