Quick quotes are getting tested in WhatsApp

A few days ago I noticed it for the first time, a new feature which lets you quickly reply to someone’s message appeared in WhatsApp. This may sound a bit boring, but it gives you the option to reply to a specific message in a group chat, or a normal chat. While WhatsApp is the biggest messaging app in the world, it has been pretty minimalistic in the sense of the amount of features shipping with the app, so seeing such a small but useful change is pretty interesting.

WhatsApp-Quick-Quote

The feature seems to be rolling out to a handful of users running WhatsApp latest beta version for Android, with version number v.2.16.118. To use the new feature, you’ll need to long press the message you want to reply to. As always, starring, trash, copy and forward will appear, with one new addition this time, a reply arrow. This feature is pretty interesting, but limited at the same time as you can only quote one message every time, and not one group of messages. Looking at the bright side, I could see this making groups much easier to navigate.

Monetizing WhatsApp

Facebook, the owner of WhatsApp, keeps pushing new feature to their Messaging app including an array of new emoji. And, with the social giant looking to monetize both of their messaging platforms, we’re most likely going to see a whole new range of features on WhatsApp and their Messaging app. Although it only has been released to their beta app if we may believe the release notes, everyone seems to be able to use this feature. What are your thoughts on this new feature? And what would you like to see in WhatsApp next? Do let us know in the comments below.
