LG Unveils the V30 – A Content Creators Dream Product? – IFA 2017

Day 2 of the Press Events here at IFA 2017 in Berlin and it’s LG’s turn to lift the lid on the devices they’ve been working on. The LG V30 has had many column inches written about it already with leaks being prevalent in the run up to the launch. Today LG duly delivered the V30 and it’s set to give content creators just what they want – isn’t it?

The LG has refreshed the V20 entirely with the V30. Gone are the aesthetics of the previous generation device and instead the V30 looks remarkably like the LG G6. Perhaps LG are starting to think of their V line or devices the way Samsung thinks of their Note line up; the same material design, but a different productivity level or use case scenario. It certainly looks that way.

The LG V30 certainly packs a punch. You’d expect some of these specifications in a top-tier 2017 smartphone such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM and the storage options with dual cameras. However LG steps things up a bit from their previous outings with an AMOLED display. That’s right folks, gone are the LCDs, and LG has brought vibrancy and brightness back to their displays.

Some of you might be disappointed to see the second screen, debuted in the V line up, has been dropped, instead opting to deliver the same type of functionality via a software solution.

LG are hoping this device stands out to content creators due to the breadth of the features available from the optical package. Yes there is the standard dual camera setup we’re come to know and love in 2017 with a 16MP primary and 13MP wide-angle lens. But it’s in the Video mode where LG shine. Cine Video, Food mode, Snap Movie, Slo Mo, Guide Shot and many more; these are all features that help content creators get interesting and in some cases unique shots in their Videos. Log format (think RAW for video) is also available here. Interesting times ahead.
