MobileTechTalk On May 15th at an event in the heart of London, UK, Honor unveiled their latest device, and the successor to last year’s #LightCatcher device, the Honor 10. Let’s have a look at the selling points of this device and give you the low down on pricing and availability.
Let’s start with the specs list here and it’s a nice blend of iterative updates and market trends.

There’s quite a lot there that we’d expect to see given it’s 2018 but we’re expecting a very competitive price for the Honor 10 as the Honor 9 also produced something palatable. You can expect this to hit the shelves for a compelling £399 and there are discounts to be had too.
The Notch makes an appearance as this seemingly never-ending market trend claims yet another victim. Mercifully those who don’t wish to have such a ‘feature’ can turn it off in the EMUI 8.1 software and go back to the good old days.
The camera setup is certainly impressive also with dual cameras once again returning to the Honor line of devices. With the Honor 10, Honor are suggesting that their integrated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) within the Kirin 970 processor will be able to identify 22 real-time objects and scenes to provide better clarity in the final picture. For example, if you point your Honor 10 at a smiling face, the AI chip should identify this as a human being, and perhaps switch to portrait mode automatically to enable the best possible photo to be taken. What’s more is that the AI chip will learn how you use these features and will only get better over time.
The design has changed somewhat from the Honor 9 also with the Lightcatcher design making way for the Aurora design. Essentially the Honor 10 will house multiple colours and change between them as the light hits. Up close it’s a stunning aesthetic and one not matched by other devices.
What else is new? We’ll the big other change is the inclusion of a front placed fingerprint scanner, no on the bezel any longer, but under the glass. We knew that smartphones were oushing this and the Honor 10 is testing the water with this new technology.
